Continentals AllSeasonContact 2 Wins

Hanover, Germany, October 17, 2024. The German magazine "AUTO BILD Allrad" has tested whether all-season tires can also be a safe tire choice for 4x4 vehicles – and answered "yes". Ten tire models from European, Asian, and American manufacturers in the size 245/45 R 18 100 Y were asked to test a 4x4 Cupra Formentor. After 14 tests, Continental's AllSeasonContact 2 came out on top with the top rating of "exemplary" and an overall score of 1.2, with the experts from Germany praising its balance and good driving dynamics in all weather conditions.

Typical of an all-season tire that must compromise summer and winter characteristics at the highest possible level, the AllSeasonContact 2 scored well in all test disciplines, achieving Very Good and Good ratings on snow, wet, and dry roads. The AllSeasonContact 2 also scored the highest marks in the two sustainability categories – rolling resistance and ride comfort.

The fact that not all all-season tires on the market meet high safety standards was demonstrated in the wet braking test: There was a difference in stopping distance of more than 14 meters between the Continental tire and an Asian product, and the "cheap tire" only came to a stop after more than 65 meters from 100 km/h. The editors' conclusion on year-round suitability: "Not all candidates live up to their names".
